USAA Annual Allocation
- Quote
Postby BoomerM3 »
I just received a letter from USAA titled “Annual Allocation Statement.” It says (in part), the Board of Directors has approved an allocation to your account. The attachment shows the 2021 (yes 2021) allocations – Senior Bonus and SSA Distribution. Both these amounts are for 2021.
My question is: Why am I getting a review of last year’s data instead of the Senior Bonus amount for 2022?
Anyone else seen this? Have a different interpretation?

It appears to be another poorly crafted USAA communication. In the past, they've sent separate SSA distro and Senior Bonus letters at the appropriate times. This one today seems to be a summary of the 2021 SSA distro received a month or so ago, along with the Senior Bonus amount for 2020 that was sent last February to those eligible. The 2021 Senior Bonus (if approved by the powers that be) will be announced and sent sometime later this month. I think......

This is exactly the same information that has been distributed over the past 20 years, and at the same time as in prior years. The difference is that this year it is in a two page letter instead of in a one page form.

I have a related question. I haven't reached my 40 years yet with USAA, but I am getting dangerously close. Regarding the Senior Bonus, do I have to sign up for it or does the bonus happen automatically once I am eligible? Thanks.

It is automatic.

I’m not eligible for the Senior Bonus, but here is what my letter shows:
12/31/20 Year-End Balance
12/12/21 Subscriber’s Account Distribution
Subtotal
12/31/21 Allocation Credited
12/31/21 Year-End Balance
Seems straight-forward to me.

We are eligible for the senior bonus for the first time this year. Has anyone gotten a check yet? Curious as to when I need to start looking for it.

My Senior Bonus is direct deposited to my checking account and was posted to my NFCU account February 15th at $309. Had previously received a letter from USAA dated February 13th giving me the amount. I have been with USAA since 1961.

The only letter we have gotten is the one with the subscriber savings account statement. I guess I should give it a few more days and then give them a call. Thank you!!

Lissiebeth - Are you just reaching your 40th or 41st anniversary with USAA? Since it is more than 20 years since I received my first Senior Bonus I don't remember if it was paid upon reaching the 40th or at the end of the 40th year. A telephone call to them might be in order and resolve your questions.

It’s our 41st year. Last year it was applied to our SSA. We didn’t find out until later that we had to request it to be paid out in check form.

Was it a check or direct deposit? For some reason my husband insists on paper checks still lol. Our driveway is about half a mile long so I always worry about kids possibly rummaging through our mail before I get down there to get it. I’m just trying to decide when I need to start stalking the mail man we did get a letter saying they had been delayed a little bit but since we’ve never gotten one before I’m not sure about timing at all.

For me, usaa sent an email sometime around December asking how I would like the $; I asked them to apply it towards my bill. One can go on the usaa website and see the status of their subscribers saving account I believe. Good luck and go AF.
