Scottsdale Republic Obituary

Zina Kuhn died August 15, 2005.

Mrs. Kuhn was born in St. Petersburg, Russia, in 1914.  She came to the United States in 1951, settling in New York City.  She married Colonel Coleman Kuhn, and upon his retirement from the Air Force in 1975, they moved to Scottsdale.

Exhibiting a great love of her new country, Mrs. Kuhn orchestrated the refurbishing of the Merci Train boxcar, a gift from the people of France to the people of Arizona after World War II.  It now stands restored at McCormick Railroad Park in Scottsdale.

In 1989 she initiated and organized the now annual city of Scottsdale-sponsored Veterans' Day Memorial Service. For her many contributions to the city, she was inducted into the Scottsdale History Hall of Fame in 2004.

A visitation will be held from 1-2 pm on Tuesday, August 30, at Messinger Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School Rd. in Scottsdale, followed by memorial service at 2 pm.  Burial will be at Paradise Memorial Gardens, 9300 E. Shea Blvd., Scottsdale. After the service and burial a reception will be held.
